Title: New LackeyCCG Version now the official version!
Post by: Trevor on June 25, 2013, 11:38:13 PM
I'm making the new version the official version today.

I will be closely monitoring it and what I imagine will be many bug reports. Over the next few days, perhaps even weeks, I will try to fix all of those issues. Please bear with me during this hopefully short time.

This new version is not compatible with the old version. At present, the windows LackeyCCG Updater.exe is not working. Alternative to the LackeyCCG Updater.exe, you can also update to the new version in the following way:

Download the latest version from http://lackeyccg.com/downloads.html and unzip it and put it where you want it. YOU CANNOT JUST TAKE THE EXECUTABLE AND PUT IT INTO YOUR OLD LACKEY FOLDER. To install your plugins (including your decks) into this new version, move your plugins folder from your old lackey folder and replace the plugins folder in this new version.

I'll be posting updates to this thread as new things come up, and update this first post with relevant info. I am making this post a sticky in the Beta Tester section of the forum (http://www.lackeyccg.com/forum/index.php?board=3.0). Please post bugs as you find them, but before you do, I request that you take a quick look and see that the same bug wasn't already posted here already.

EDIT: 6/27/13
I am currently improving the pluginfinder interface to make it more intuitive. Until I'm done, you need to use the "Install or Update from URL!" button. To find an autoupdate URL, you can either check the plugins section of the forum, or a google search for it will also find it.

EDIT: 7/1/13
I fixed some of the bugs mentioned in this thread and the LackeyCCG Updater.exe is now working.

EDIT: 7/12/13
Posted a new version today with several of the preference related bugs fixed.

EDIT: 7/19/13
Posted a new version today with bugs that caused crashes. New scripting system implemented see: http://www.lackeyccg.com/forum/index.php?topic=2134.0

EDIT: 7/27/13
Added skype integration. Fixed some bugs that people reported. Added /help and /tutorial command that open up tutorial information if the plugin maker supplies it. http://www.lackeyccg.com/forum/index.php?topic=2157.0

EDIT: 9/15/13
Added scrollbars to several areas, including the section that displays seats.
Added the ability to hide full size images popping out on mouse over.
Players you ignore can no longer join games you make.
If the bindings preferences has the Canned messages section on the bottom left, previews of the canned messages are displayed.

EDIT: 9/20/13
I fixed some of the bugs people reported and cleaned up the interface, especially the deck editor.

EDIT: 9/24/13
I fixed some of the bugs and cleaned up some memory usage.

EDIT: 9/25/13
Fixed some crashes. When drawing an arrow from a card on the table, hold shift key and you will see a shadow of that card on the arrow.

EDIT: 10/02/13
I fixed a number of the bugs and lackey should now use less memory and hopefully be faster.
Some plugin makers requested that I make plugin names of plugins people are running only visible to people who have those plugins installed. So if you don't have a plugin that someone else has, you will see that person's plugin listed as "(uninstalled plugin)". This is to better help people develop private plugins and use the server.
EDIT: I fixed a bug regarding the "(uninstalled plugin)" change that affected windows users. If you DLed prior to 10/2 7AM EST, you need to re-download.

EDIT: 10/5/13
I fixed some bugs relating to multiple card backs and deck editor searching. Added a preference to have the deck editor search update on each keystroke or not, since some slower computers may prefer to have it off if they are using a very large plugin.

Change log (partially complete):
Scripting: http://www.lackeyccg.com/forum/index.php?topic=1801.0

My friend is having an issue connecting to the server. He downloaded the new client and when he hits connect to game matching server it says "There was an error retrieving list from the server. Attempting to use local list... Found a server, but the address may be out of date."

Hi. Thank you for the new version, excellent work as usual.

I see that the card limit is still set to 1000, any chance you could increase it to 4000 as we discussed in private?

Keep up the good work and thank you again.

I must be blind, also.  There is no longer a plugin finder.  Just browse the installed ones or load a recent one.

i think the "start.txt" files are not longer recognized...??

update: ok i just checked the "official" chess and stratego plugins and i can now confirm that the neither of the initial game setups work. the program states that it has loaded a new game but nothing happens.

i hope this can be fixed easily, the plugin i am working on at the moment heavily relies on the start.txt file..

I'm reworking how card counters display. But if I recall correctly, even now there is no limit as to how many you can have on a card.

This sounds like he didn't have the new version. If he checks to see he has the latest version (from 6/26/13 as of this writing), and it still doesn't work, please have him contact me so I can troubleshoot. It also might be that the website was down for a few minutes when he checked. The server info is taken from the website.

I just updated this and the new limit is now 3000, which is still probably 10 times more than people will ever likely use. 3000 good enough for your needs?

I just checked the chess plugin and it works. Remember, it doesn't do anything until you select "New Game" from the main menu.

Hey Sorry I'm awful with computers and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.  I have a mac, and played lackey a lot until just recently when the newer version came out.  Ive tried downloading it, but then when I try to run it, a message pops up that says the program "quit unexpectedly."  What am I doing wrong?

I'm having issues with card images popping out of their borders whenever they're either selected in anyway while using the deck editor or in game.

Also what happened to the ? , ~ and U buttons that used to display the text box for cards? Currently only \ works and it took me a while to find that button.

the pop up is working as intended. If the large image is too large it may mean you are using a version of the plugin that is to big.

If you have a qwerty keyboard, the pop up text should be the tilda key still. Not 100% sure about nonqwerty. I suppose I could let people define the key they want to use for that.
Title: Re: New LackeyCCG Version now the official version!
Post by: magekirbys on June 29, 2013, 07:35:05 PM
I've got a qwerty keyboard and it's not the tilda key, heck lackey doesn't even let me enter that key anywhere while typing.

The plugin I'm using (Weiss Schwarz) only comes with large images for each of the cards so I have to resize things to be able to see the rest of the options but since they still pop out of the borders they end up blocking the view anyway.

Could you perhaps add an option or a button that forces cards to stay in their borders?
Title: Re: New LackeyCCG Version now the official version!
Post by: Trevor on June 29, 2013, 08:01:05 PM
There is an option to have the card image resized. Not sure if that would do the trick.

You should be able to see things fine as long as your cursor isn't over a card.

Its not the amount of counters on the card... its the actual size of the card counters..  I zoom out on the playmat, in order to see more of the board, so my counters are very tiny... also, I use the text w/ image counters, and the green dot limits the space of the shown number of counters.

Filters do not work reliably in the Mac version; sometimes filters are not honored, sometimes filters switch from CONTAINS to DOESNTCONTAIN. In the example you can see 4 filters set to select a specific personnel; the Property filter is set to TNG the displayed personnel has a property value of FC.

What is the autoupdate URL that you are using to install this plugin?
You say the filters do not work "reliably", implying that they some times do work and some times do not. Can you come up with a sequence of events (from relaunching) that reliably exhibits this malfunction?

The behavior is rather erratic - there are no sequences I could retrace and redo to get the same results. The only thing I can definitely say is that the longer I use Lackey to build decks the more often this happens. I was building decks for about 1 hours, then this happened (also sometimes cards couldn't be added to the Deck or the filter operator changed); it got more frequent the longer I built...

Does the "Turn filters off" button fix it? After that, will it start working as intended again?

It does; I just tried it and what happened was that one of the Filters was set to CONTAINS when switched off but changed to DOESNTCONTAIN when checked again. That would also be consistent with the search results, only the display of filter operators would then be not always correct.

Hello. Before I start, I updated to the new version a few days ago, i think on the 1st of July or something, i played a few games, then i logged off. Since then, I have not been able to get into the "game matching server". It simply says: Attempting to connect to server... ; Your connection to the server seems to have been severed. ; You are now disconnected from the server. I have tried updating again, but I keep getting the message: You must close the LackeyCCG program before using this updater. It says this even when the program is closed. Help would be appreciated. (also, i am on windows 7, 64 bit)

Lackey now requires Mac OS 10.6 or higher to work. This change was needed to make it compatible with iOS devices.

Works on the OS X now. But doesn't seem to support the nordic countries keyboads. i can use the letters and numbers but almost half of all characters as >/=? doesn't work. So i can't use any commands in the log area, like /save and /load as I can't get the / symbol. And just for info, when you wanna choose a different backgroung image the open directory button doesn't work.

The >/=? symbols ought to work. Exactly why kind of keyboard are you using?

The browser for the table background image seems to work fine for me. Exactly what do you mean about saying it "doesn't work". Specifically, how is it not working? Does the window not open? Do the images not get listed? Can you not select an image file? Can you hit the "CHoose" button, and does doing so change the background image? There are many ways something can not work. I need to know exactly what isn't working for you if I am to fix it.

I have been able to reproduce this reliably and I am working on it now.
Dang. I was able to reproduce this deliberately, but I forgot what it was I did and now I can't get it to happen deliberately. Anyone able to figure out a causal relationship for this behavior?

I use a Danish/Norwegian keyboard.
Regarding the background selecting window, I wrote that it is the "open directory" button that doesn't work. Don't know what more I can say about a button. Sorry.

My Lackey is missing the Plugin Finder. There is only a button that says "Learn how to load a Plugin"
Is the Plugin Finder gone in this new version?

I'm new to the forums, but have been on Lackey for a bit now. I saw that today the new update (8-17-13) came out and tried to update it. I'm on a mac and i have version 10.8.4. After installing the new update my build comes out as 8-16-13 and says my version is out of date. Is there any help for this yet?

I just downloaded a fresh mac version of Lackey with the build date 8/17. Whenever I try to connect to the server it incorrectly says my build is outdated. One of my friends just downloaded the Windows version and he can connect just fine.

UPDATE: I just noticed that the Windows version has the build date listed as 8/18 while the Mac version is 8/17. Is it possible that the download link for the mac version is actually outdated?

You have a non-qwerty keyboard?
Even if you can't type the / symbol, you can still paste it. And you can still store it in your canned messages as a script.

9/15/13
Added scrollbars to several areas, including the section that displays seats.
Added the ability to hide full size images popping out on mouse over.
Players you ignore can no longer join games you make.
If the bindings preferences has the Canned messages section on the bottom left, previews of the canned messages are displayed.

EDIT: oops. I accidently posted the windows version today with a DOS console, which is meant to be hidden. If you downloaded the new windows version today, but before 4:20 AM EST, you should re-download.

What happened to the Text Checkbox in the deck editor and Game tabs? It was in the previous version but its no longer available in this build.
There was also an issue in the last build as well as this one, where the hand and characters tab for are revealed at the start of games. They normally aren't revealed.

To be fair, I don't know if Rumbling Spell Orchestra is registered on Lackey or whatever but it didn't have any issues at all till last build and this one just now and I've been playing the game for 3 years now...haha.

I removed the Text check box from there and put it in the appearance preferences. I'm trying to reduce clutter.
Regarding revealed zones, those should be revealed or concealed based on the plugin's settings for that zone when that player loads the deck. If this isn't working as intended, please give me a specific plugin to test, and a plugin autoupdate URL you are using so I know I am testing the same version of that plugin you are.

If things don't load, download the zip from the downloads section and unzip it and run immediately from that fresh unzip. If that works, then the libraries are fine. If it stops working after that fresh state, something you are doing after that unzip process is making it not work.

Yeah, actually I did find that out later that night for the Text Box part being moved. I figured something that important couldn't have been just taken out so I looked around thoroughly till I found it. Thanks anyway ^_^

As for the Zone concealed/revealed....Well sadly, again the RSO plugin isn't registered here with an autoupdate link. I do have the most up to date plugin for it here http://www.mediafire.com/download/88l5rv14z0jlm8q The game only updates once a year in August and since its a doujin card game, I don't think anyone ever made an autoupdate link for it. The zones used to work just fine about 2 LackeyCCG updates ago, but as of this build and the one before it, the zones stopped working as they were. The Characters, and Hand Zones are supposed to be concealed upon loading a deck pretty much. I feel its a minor issue and that I could probably fix it but I don't know much about it.

That plugin is using an outdated plugin format. That's why the hand zones don't work right.

Hey! im having some trouble with the new version (09-20-13) in mac, specifically with both the yu-gi-oh and pokemon plugins, i can't see the cards in the deck editor, aparently it doesn't load them, even if i update the plugin several times. Magic and other plugins work fine, but those 2 i can't play. I tried with the windows version in another machine and it worked fine with all the plugins, so i guess it's a mac version issue, i would appreciate your help.  :D

Thanks so much

I fixed a number of the bugs and lackey should now use less memory and hopefully be faster.

Some plugin makers requested that I make plugin names of plugins people are running only visible to people who have those plugins installed. So if you don't have a plugin that someone else has, you will see that person's plugin listed as "(uninstalled plugin)". This is to better help people develop private plugins and use the server.

For some reason the search filters for 'contains' and 'doesn't contain' seem to be acting like 'is' and 'is not'. For example if you search under type for contains elf, 0 results will be found because no card has a type of 'elf', however if you search for contains cr it will give you all the creatures but not something with a type like artifact creature - crab. These are MtG examples, but this isn't just an MtG plugin issue, I tried the same with the cthulhu plugin and it has the same problem.

I'm not sure if this is intended or not, but counter images don't scale with the card after they have been placed.

For example, if you have a card (100%) and then place a counter on it, the counter will be to scale with your card (15 - 25%). However, if you then change the card's scale (say to 200%), the counter will remain the same size. It will not "update" it's scale with the card.

I'm using the Windows build 10-19-13.

This is the exact reason I stopped using lackey a while ago. It's swarmed with magic players and the whole silly plug in masking thing simply killed all of the community for non private games which aren't magic.
Especially with it's new iteration, i mean put your self in a new player's shoes. You can't even download plugins anymore as conveniently as before so that's just a needless barrier that prevents them from trying it.
When you join the lobby everything is obscured by this 'uninstalled plugin' making it seem more unwelcoming than it was before and the chat is mostly silent so good luck getting any help unless you're one of the few who know how to or have bothered looking at the forums.

I ended up in their shoes a while back since I got a new laptop and had to re-install everything for the millionth time and I have to say it's very off putting and as I see it you've essentially cut out any new players who don't play magic from joining just to please a few plugin creators.
If someone doesn't want people to join their games/plugins we already had systems in place such as passworded rooms and muting ones who bother us but I don't see why a new plugin creator would want to bar people from joining and keep it's community small (besides wanting to play with friends).

Could you add a feature that allows you to automatically move a selected card or cards to a specific gamezone? Basically the transfer function, but modifying it so that you can use selected card or cards on the table as the starting zone. Additionally, if that function could be paired to a key binding, that'd be perfect.

EDIT: And is there possibly some way to add a "draw until you hand is X card" function? Specifically one that could either be made into a button or hotkey? (Specifically, 5 cards. :P)

Both good ideas and should be easy to implement.

You can select cards and right click them to send them to a zone now.

Hey, so in new versions, the Mac version immediately crashes. Can you attend to this? I'd be fine with the older version being used, or at least being allowed online. If a fix could be implemented asap, that'd be fantastic. I love using Lackey to host a TCG I recreated. If there's any way I could help, or help test, please let me know! :)

i'm writing to ask again to make the plugins name visible to all connected to the server: it is very frustrating to cycle all the times the games you have installed to see if anyone else connected has loaded it, in addition to the facts that by the time time about 80% of people logged in play magic (instead of paying for the workstation) and when you switch plugins you automatically got disconnected from the server for about 1 minute for every plugin change

Unless Trevor changed something:  You don't need to switch plugins to see if anyone is playing a particular plugin, you simply need the plugin in your plugins directory.

I agree with making plugin names visible to everybody.

Snoogy is right in that as long as you have the plugin installed, you can see people on the server with that plugin. The decision to conceal plugins that you don't have installed was a frequent request. A lot of different companies use lackey to playtest games before they see print and they didn't want information about their project released before they were ready to release it.

And it shouldn't take you a minute to relog into the server. The only reason that would happen is if you disconnect in an unusual way and you need to way for the time-out to disconnect you. If switching plugins causes you to not log out normally, please confirm this for certain and then report it to me. If that is indeed the case, you can manually disconnect from the server before switching plugins (by hitting the x button on the server tab among other ways). But as I said, you can see players and games of plugins you don't have loaded as long as you do have them installed.

I understand that seeing the different games you don't have is a nice way to find out about new plugins, and I weighed that against the pros of the current system. There are other things you can do too, including putting games in your player profile note, or talking in the server chat.

what about putting a specific variable into the plugininfo txt file to let the plugin author choose its public visibility?
