Depending on the quality and size of the card images, it can be easier to read text from the program instead of having to focus on the text from the image, especially in more text heavy games like Yu-Gi-Oh or UFS. It would also be useful for those of us who play translated games where we can't actually read the text on the card image but would still like to see the pictures during the game. Pressing the ~ key to make the text appear is functional but a little tiring on my pinky!
